Jamie has a passion for working with children and an innate ability to lend her talents to children with developmental differences. Jamie is a New York State Licensed, Board Certified Behavior Analyst® who works with all children and specializes in Autism.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Rhetoric &amp; Global Culture from Binghamton University, where she served as the University’s Dance Team captain and choreographer. Jamie holds a Master of Science Degree in Special and General Education as well as Applied Behavior Analysis from Hunter College, graduating with highest honors. Jamie is experienced in The Social Thinking Methodology©®, Lively Letters™ trained, and enrolled in BITES® feeding therapy training. Jamie started Progressive Kids in 2020 and prides her practice on its progressive approach; using a modernized, naturalistic approach to foster each child’s progress in conjunction with multi-disciplinary collaboration.  Jamie works closely with each child’s family, caregivers and educational team (including school staff, doctors, psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech therapists) to share goals, ensure treatment continuity, and continuously evolve her practice as a behavioral therapist. Jamie treats the whole child, regardless of diagnosis, within their natural environments of home, school and community. Unlike traditional behavioral therapy, Jamie focuses on all aspects of a child’s life including socialization, fine and gross motor skills, cognition, behavior, self help skills, academics, emotional regulation, executive functioning, communication and pragmatic language. Jamie strives to understand the child within the context of their home and school life and develop rapport prior to program implementation. Each child’s programming is individualized and catered to their specific needs and goals.  Treatment targets development across domains while prioritizing the child’s sense of self and enjoyment. In efforts to achieve best outcome cases, Jamie believes in mainstreaming children while delivering powerful supplemental support.  Jamie’s unique style of working with and advocating for children with special needs has fostered growth and development while boosting self-confidence and inclusivity in the mainstream environment.</image:caption>

She values close collaboration with classroom teachers and related service providers to ensure children receive consistent, thoughtful support throughout the school day. She holds a Masters of Science in Social Psychology from American University and a Masters of Arts degree in Special Education from St. Joseph’s University.   Chelsey began her career in ABA working at the Delaware Autism Program during her undergraduate degree and loved connecting with kiddos with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  From there she worked in Washington, D.C. with children in their homes and then at a Manhattan Charter school which serves children on the Autism Spectrum ages 5-21.  Throughout her 8 years there she worked with children’s of all ages with varying levels of need. Some of her favorite memories are teaching adolescents necessary job skills for their future and “graduating” younger children out as they went on to enroll in their neighborhood elementary schools.   Whether at home, school, or in the community Chelsey believes in teaching through fun approaches and allowing children to be their authentic selves while acquiring the skills they’ll need to be successful in school and out in the world.  Chelsey has been working as a BCBA throughout the New York City boroughs since 2018 in a multitude of preschools, summer camps, elementary schools and in homes and communities.  Chelsey met Jamie through colleagues 7 years ago and have continued to build a collaborative working relationship. Chelsey brings her warm, upbeat energy and cool vibes that align perfectly with the PK style that kids absolutely love.</image:caption>
