Community Skills
We support children where real life happens: playgrounds, playdates, classes, errands, and transitions throughout the city.
Community sessions are naturalistic, child-centered, and designed to help children generalize their communication, social, emotional, and independence skills across a variety of environments.
Our community programs are tailored to each child’s goals and family routines. Community programming can include:
Verbal Behavior
• Functional communication in real-world situations
• Asking for help or information
• Ordering food or making simple requests
• Communicating needs during activities
• Conversation skills with peers in natural settings
Social Skills
• Playdates and peer interaction
• Playground cooperation and turn-taking
• Navigating group activities (classes, sports, outings)
• Joining play with unfamiliar peers
• Sharing public spaces respectfully
• Community manners (greetings, waiting, personal space)
Social-Emotional Development
• Emotional regulation in stimulating environments
• Coping with surprises, noise, and crowds
• Managing excitement, disappointment, or frustration
• Understanding social expectations in public settings
