Frequently asked questions, answered

  • Behavior therapy at Progressive Kids NYC focuses on helping children build practical, meaningful skills that support their success at home, at school, and in social settings.

Our work is grounded in the science of behavior, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and our approach is naturalistic, play-based, and highly individualized.

We focus on teaching communication, emotional regulation, flexibility, independence, and social skills, rather than simply trying to “stop” behaviors.

Sessions are engaging and purposeful, using everyday routines, play, and real-life interactions to help skills carry over beyond therapy. We work closely with families and schools so progress feels meaningful and functional in a child’s daily life.

At its core, behavior therapy is about understanding why a child behaves the way they do and using that understanding to support growth in a respectful, supportive way.

  • We work with all kids. We meet children and their families where they are and create individualized plans that make sense for the child and the family as a whole. Our focus is progress.

While we specialize in working with children with Autism, we also support children with ADD/ADHD, social-pragmatic language differences, auditory processing challenges, and other developmental or learning needs. We treat the whole child, not a diagnosis.
